It is almost three years ago that The Wines of India, a Concise Guide was launched in paper format in Mumbai, so I confess to having taken a long time to create this digital edition. The intervening fact for the arrival of the online version was the serious illness of my husband, who, thanks to the brilliant medical services of the NHS, is doing brilliantly. Now I can afford the time and energy to keep readers up-to-date on what is happening in India and, most importantly, what is worth drinking.
Initially, the quest of the ’winter sun’ brought me to India. Beside enjoying wonderful beaches in South Goa, breathtaking sights and amazing landscapes impressed me in Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharastra and Kerala. In 2012, however, instead of exploring more from the traditional tourist destinations, I organised a series of winery visits in Karnataka and Maharashtra, which proved to be both eye-opening and the start of my fascination with Indian wines.
The fascination is unchanged, hence my regular visits to and tastings with Indian producers. Instead of competing to publish ’the latest’, this website will be the ultimate online guide to Indian wines and a reliable source of information on what is worth drinking in India at the moment.
